PlayStation is not just a gaming console. Ask someone who is a fan and you will get to know - it is a feeling of excitement, joy, and happiness. While some simply purchase it from their salary, some of us had to work really hard in our board exams to get it XD. You know what I mean!
Sony has officially launched its latest gaming console in major markets like the US and UK (12th November 2020), but Indian fans do not get a taste of it. The long-awaited PS5 is not likely to launch in the subcontinent anytime soon.

However, PlayStation lovers in India are buying consoles from the grey market. No doubt these products are original (manufactured by Sony) but are being sold/made available here through unofficial sources, at prices that are 3 to 4 times the official selling price.
According to a report published by India Today, people are paying as much as ₹90,000 (1200USD approx.) for getting their hands on the latest PS5, while the global rate is 400USD for the Digital Edition and 500USD for the Standard Edition.
On top of that, if someone who has bought the product from the grey market faces an issue with the console, Sony would not help them. As PS5 is not officially available in India, the warranty for imported devices would simply be invalid.
"We advise our customers to check for the official Sony India Warranty card at the time of purchase to avail warranty benefits within India and in this context, it is important to note that PlayStation products marketed by Sony India are certified based on India safety standards stipulated by BIS", Sony
So if you are someone who has told your uncle or aunt, or any other relative to bring you a PS5 while they come and visit you this new year, you shall think twice before they actually get it for you XD. According to me, if you are a true PS5 fan, you would wait, wouldn't you!
