The smartphone called ZTE Axon 20 5G is rolling out on September 1. It would be the first phone in the world to feature a front camera that remains hidden in the display. This would be a revolutionary advancement as days of ugly looking notches are behind us! While it was long anticipated that companies like Apple or Samsung would lead the world in this most-expected development, ZTE is a Chinese multinational company that makes both equipment and systems.

The ZTE Axon 20 5G would be available in three different colors, as seen in the teasers! It would house a 64MP multi-cam setup at the rear panel and a 32MP under-display front camera. This essentially means that the camera module would not cut out a part of the scree, increasing the seamless experience that a smartphone has to offer.

Rumour has it that these devices might be powered by a 2.4Ghz octa-core processor (Snapdragon 765G), along with 12GB of RAM and a 256GB internal memory. A 4020mAh battery would power the phone. It might be priced around 50,000INR, based on international rates.

Some Perspective!

Smartphones have evolved like anything in the past few years. I personally remember the journey of these devices. It was not many years ago, that Xiaomi launched Redmi 5, the first mobile phone with a 18:9 aspect ratio. It simply means that a mobile phone with same dimensions would be able to accommodate more screen into it. Some of the most popular ways of implementing the same is how Apple designs its phone, with minimal borders and a very small notch that houses the 3D face-mapping system.

It is also important to notice here that; more than often, it is the Chinese companies that are the first in innovating. Be it an in-display fingerprint scanner or a motorised selfie-camera! It is for us to understand that the leading brands in the world follow a high profit business model, that runs on stable modules and components. Unless and until a component is fully tested and has stabilised commercial market, they try to keep their hands off it!
